Expanding its specialty sleep offerings, Boyd Specialty Sleep will launch a series of new and updated designs across its diverse collection of sleep products at the Las Vegas Market.
These introductions include a line of Natural Flex® Supreme models, a Cosmopolitan upholstered platform bed and a patent-pending air core that will be incorporated into all of the company’s air-based mattresses. Boyd also will introduce a new Euro Base, plus two new occasional-use beds called Siesta™ and Comfort Ease™II.
“Our objective is always to evaluate and respond to the needs of retailers and the overall marketplace, and then to expand our offerings and enhance the performance of our products accordingly,” noted company president Dennis Boyd.
In its Natural Flex series of latex specialty beds, Boyd has added a new, four-model Supreme line, expected to retail in queen from $699 to $1,499. These mattresses incorporate layered combinations of Dunlop latex and specially engineered Boyd latex. A patented, four-inch-wide “racetrack” edge of high density foam provides extra support and full surface comfort. The two-tone, white-and-gray mattresses will be shown with new headboard, pillow and foot protector designs.
Retailers looking to offer their customers even more should consider the UPS-shippable Cosmopolitan, a new, contemporary-style upholstered platform bed which eliminates the need for a foundation or a metal frame. At $199 in queen, the Cosmopolitan platform bed frame features a saddle-stitched, leather-like headboard, footboard and side rails in a choice of black, ivory or brown.
“The demand for decorative, shippable bed frames among internet retailers remains strong,” Boyd said, “but it’s also quickly increasing among brick-and-mortar stores. Platform beds enable retailers to offer both form and function at affordable prices. They enhance the consumer’s shopping experience and provide a far more engaging alternative to buying a traditional sleep set.”
Another market introduction is a patent-pending thermal polyurethane (TPU) air core that will be incorporated into four of Boyd’s high-tech, six-chamber air mattress: the Operetta, Orion, Comet and Stardust air models. At $1,999 to $3,499 in queen, the new core provides better durability and performance and is more environmentally-friendly than rubber cores. It achieves higher pressure-per-square-inch (PSI) levels, increasing support for the sleeper.
The new Euro Base frame introduction features adjustable support for a firm or plush feel, plus additional lumbar support in the middle. More contouring than metal bed bases, the Euro Base has sliding birch wood slats that adjust easily for personalized comfort. The center third of the bed base features three sets of double slats—one atop the other—that provide extra support for the body’s midsection.
“Not only is this base more affordable than other platform beds,” Boyd explained, “but it offers more flex and bounce than rigid steel bases. It also allows for personalized support adjustments.”
Finally, Boyd Specialty Sleep will present two new occasional-use beds: the Siesta mattress and the Comfort Ease II fold-away guest bed.
At a $79 retail, the Siesta floor mattress combines three inches of memory foam and poly foam in a quilted poly knit cover that’s removable and washable. The mattress rolls up, fastens with straps and comes with a carrying bag.
The new Comfort Ease II mattress uses the same components and cover as the Siesta model but includes a sturdy steel frame that folds to only 5.5 inches and accommodates up to 300 pounds. Both are UPS-shippable.
